World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses like crit chance and PvE damage.

If the template for upgrading a weapon ends in %, it will increase 3% of its previous damage each time it is upgraded.

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost increases as the level of the Best item upgrader rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue level before a component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it is applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Glyphs

Requirements

The item will also lose any bonuses it earned like chances to be crit, attack damage, or additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time or reloading speed). When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that, if a weapon gains an increase in crit chance, the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots.
