WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade item their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They can be purchased from NPCs of item upgraders for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show the item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current item upgrader kit level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require a variety of means which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is even if those items are from an entirely different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a number of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item upgrades level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to equipment with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an Item Upgrader Mod is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
