World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example, a weapon with the upgrade template ending in % will suffer 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets in order to provide them with a boost in stats or an extra effect. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment that has a slot. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before the component can be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item level upgrade it's used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of that equipment using fewer Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of the weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them in the cash shop or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of the item will be available during the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of how much it will improve after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it's possible that the item will be obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer a bonus if reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded a variety of ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 as soon as possible.

You'll often see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes much faster.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools and also through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs, you will have to put them on your gear. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that can boost the stats of a particular set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, therefore it is recommended to place Glyphs in the most important spots on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might be able to place them near their most critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the stats of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned an amount that determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each item level requires a different number of components and the costs for upgrading increase as the item is upgraded.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields several Technology Points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. When enough points have been earned, you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When a player upgrades an item it is replaced with a different item of the same type. The same armor can be transformed into an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item upgrader will have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback since the item may be more expensive even if you do not need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do so. The item will be replaced with a brand new one that has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This is a good idea, but shouldn't be done often as it can waste resources.

Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to modify their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives an increase in power if the player is repeatedly in or exits the water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time increasing the max roll by an increment of 10. This item is extremely valuable in PvP as a perfectly rolled version of it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its non-upp'd value.

Requirements

The upgrade of items allows players to boost the level of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces increase its base defense, while upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.

All items are upgradeable up to five times, except for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it has a chance of failing. The rate of failure increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to revert back to its original state, which will force the user to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.

If an item upgrader kit fails to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any bonuses it gained such as crit chance and attack damage, and all additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or speed of reload). The player is able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. Slots is a new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item upgrader kit are based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The upgrade cost for non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item might have 5 upgrades at a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with a much lower cost for each upgrade.

Premium items might have different upgrade requirements than standard gear. For instance, they may need less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Players will still have to carry every piece of equipment they wish to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each equipment upgrade will require an individual amount of upgrade ingredients.
