Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the most effective ways to upgrade your gear without relying upon big-ticket drops or trade. This article will teach you how to upp your items efficiently.

Upgrades to equipment provide a bonus on the item's stats. The bonus increases with upgrade component level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components can make your armour and weapons stronger. You can find them by destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors or finding them in items-spheres. They can also be salvaged from equipment that contains them or by using an advanced salvage kit like the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components are not destroyed by removing them from the item.

The main function of upgrade components is to enable an item to be upgraded however, they also serve other functions.
