WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the item being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgrade upgraders for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool or armor. The button will show the item's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the Item upgrader Mod and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of choices. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade item the item in the proper steps and pathways.

The use of these currencies isn't too complicated however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade item process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another important modification is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance, it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
