Pokemon GO Upgrade Items and Components

An upgrade item level upgrade (from this source) is a special item that can make certain Pokemon evolve. The upgrade can be obtained by spinning a photo disc. It is sometimes offered as a prize at Pokemon GO events.

Upgrades can be applied to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools to raise their item upgrader mod level. The upgrade costs Flightstones or crests, based on the kind of item.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be inserted into trinkets, weapons, armors and gathering tools to increase attribute bonuses or other effects while using the equipment. Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with an upgrade slot. Most upgrade components also require that the item upgrader mod being upgraded is above a certain level. Some upgrade items have special visual effects that can be seen when they are used. Upgrade components can be obtained through crafting, bought from karma merchants or traded with other players on the Trading Post, taken from equipment, or obtained as rewards during games.

There are various upgrade components, each with various bonuses. Universal upgrades such as gems and inscriptions can be applied to any type of equipment. They provide smaller bonuses than other types of upgrade component. Infusions can be used on non-amulet or legendary ascended items, while enhancements can be used on some back equipment that is ascended. Inserting an upgrade component will cause the destruction of the previous upgrade. There are exceptions for glyphs (which can only be used in gathering tools) and enchantments, which can be removed and reinserted freely.

Insignias and enchantments will be displayed their names in the hover display of the item, while prefix and suffix upgrades will add their names to the end of the equipment's name (e.g. an Radiant Insignia on Tyrian Armor would change the name to Radiant Tyrian Armor). The number of upgrades that are added to an equipment piece will be displayed in the tooltip for the item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are special characters that can be added into an OpenType font to add functional or decorative elements such as ligatures, ornaments, fractions, swashes, registered trademark symbols and ellipses. The Glyphs Panel allows you to add and view these unique characters, as well as common symbols like em and en dashes as being registered trademark symbols.

Each Glyph gives a primary stat boost for the character. The glyph can also have up to four secondary stats that will alter the radius of your Paragon Board. Secondary Stats are a percentage increase which is multiplied by other bonuses, except for Speed Glyphs that directly increase the hero’s speed.

Selecting the Glyphs and clicking "enchant" will activate the Glyphs. This will display a window with the Glyphs available to you. Note that only the right type of Glyph can be applied to the item you are looking for and each weapon, jewelry or armor piece may have an array of different Glyphs.

You can increase the level of Glyphs by completing Tree of Whisper Quests or Nightmare Dungeons. The more difficult a dungeon is, the greater Glyph experience you'll gain. Once a Glyph attains level 15 it can be upgraded by the Glyph Upgrade Altar. The upgrade of a Glyph increases its radius on the Paragon Board by one node every 15 levels.

When a Glyph is at the desired level, it is possible to activate it. Select it and then click the "enchant button". The resulting glyph will offer its stated benefit and also boost all the other nodes within its radius on the Paragon Board. Glyphs should be placed where they will benefit your building the most. This is why you should consider Magic Glyphs as soon as possible. The glyphs that are rare might offer dual benefits when certain conditions are met and therefore are worth checking out for.

Sets

It is important to keep in mind that not all items in a set are suitable for upgrading.
