WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item upgrader kit used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item level Upgrade, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool using an button, which will show a preview of the item at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade items coupon and a possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear that you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
