WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item level upgrade used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item upgrading will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that are used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using an button, which will display an item's preview at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and current item level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting the latest recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require various methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a certain level of item upgrader kit for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is even if the items are from an entirely different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a variety of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests with care, since they have only one purpose. It is Best item upgrader to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
